Lombard NatWest Pig
500 produced
In 1970 Lombard Bank was taken over by The National Westminster Bank and later in 1995 underwent a rebrand to become just “Lombard”. A promotional event during this year at the Institute of Chartered Accountants Conference offered a new piggy bank known as “Lombard NatWest Pig” to some customers and attendees. They were also handed out to members of staff.
There is not a lot of written knowledge on these pigs but they are modeled on the original “Sir Nathaniel” but being in his distinctive purple/blue work suit with a red tie rather than the black suit and red bow tie. They come with a certificate and other paperwork including a polaroid picture of a pig tied up and the ransom note. The amount produced is sketchy with little to no evidence, some collectors say 100 but members of staff who received these believe it to be 500. My personal opinion is the latter.
Being an original wade pig and not a later release, these are probably the most sought after and drive a high price tag in comparison to other items.
